Interpreting Hot Trends for Veiled and Conservative Women
Conservative women? Well, now I know what to get for Solstice… A gift certificate to Nordstrom.
The very idea that a muslim woman who would wear ‘fashionable’ hijab would be considered ‘conservative’ is pretty ridiculous. I’m guessing that these woman would be just as happy to ditch the Islamic shrinkwrap if their ‘conservative’ husbands would stop inflicting Koran-approved adjustments. As my sisters and their daughters demanded in their courageous gathering outside the Tehran University’s main gate on March 08, 2005; women’s rights IS human rights, women’s freedom is equality for everyone.
Obviously, this guy needs multicultural sensitivity training… Freedom, equality, universal women’s rights apply only to western women; the victims of beautiful anti-western cultures are, well, on their own. Democratic rights and idealistic platitudes end at the cultural frontier.
